For its 30-year anniversary, the Karaiskakio Foundation is introducing a commemorative symbol inspired by the core of its mission: fighting leukemia and giving hope through bone marrow donation.
The design is built around a circle, which represents both a blood cell—the origin of leukemia—and the femoral head, a key anatomical structure connected to bone marrow. Paired with it is an abstract, curved form representing the hip bone, the primary site from which bone marrow is typically collected during donation procedures.
Together, these two elements combine scientific symbolism with meaningful numerology. The hip-bone shape naturally resembles the number 3, and when placed alongside the circular form, the two shapes visually form the number 30, marking the foundation’s three decades of life-saving work.
